Life is not all plain sailing. Indeed, hardship, trials and tribulations are part and parcel of our lives. Encountering problems is not a bad thing, the main concern is the approach we take to deal with it. A positive frame of mind is crucial for so many reasons. Positive thinking is proven to raise performance in productivity and quality. We are usually more confident and do better when we are feeling positive and well.

There are biological examples of this. A positive frame of mind is because of elevated levels of neuro transmitters such as serotonin that regulate the efficiency capabilities of the mind. The knock effects of a positive frame of mind also include better wellbeing – not just improved mental health but better in the physical sense aswell. This is due to the boost to the immune system that a positive frame of mind can give you.

The reverse is also true, if we are depressed we are far more liable to getting other diseases and mental health issues. Our relationships with others decline, we begin to think irrationally and our confidents can drop. In a nutshell this is a frame of mind that is best to avoid at all costs. Feeling depressed from time to time is not uncommon – but how we decide to face a dilemma comes from our state of mind.

A positive mental attitude is also about giving you a can do attitude. People who think positively are far more likely to see challenges as opposed to issues or opportunities as opposed to difficulties. For instance, entrepreneurs that are successful usually are because they are able to spot opportunities for growth in a marketplace which others only see troubles in. The positive mental attitude of a successful person means that opportunity becomes a reality; because they also have the drive and motivation to succeed and make their dream come true. So as you can see there is much to be gained from a positive mental attitude. The difficulty for most people is in developing one in the first place.

Developing a positive frame of mind is not some new aged fad. For centuries religious men and scholars alike sought out and developed tactics to harness an inner harmony. While this may have begun to make humanity closer to god the essence of this idea is just as relevant today. That a positive frame of mind makes us closer to the divine while a negative frame of mind can only direct us in to ways of being which are a detriment to our lives. Monks realised this long ago which is why they devote themselves to a life of abstinence and mental and spiritual fulfilment.

One of the easiest ways to determine your frame of mind is to reflect on how you are with other people. A good way to do this is to picture how you behave towards people you do not know. Are you confident and open to meeting and talking with others? Or are you insular and shy. Believe it or not one of the best ways to conquer a negative frame of mind is to change your attitude towards the world around you and that means the people in it as well. If you are generally uneasy around others then try this experiment.

One night make yourself to strike up a conversation at random in a public place. Do not be concerned about how you look or appear or what you discuss. A reference in regards to the weather or anything will do. Just try it and note how you feel afterwards.

You see, the way you are with others will affect the opportunities you get offered. Think about it like this, who is the most likely to get a job between two people of equivalent ability and knowledge except for one difference – One is uptight and uncomforable with people and the other is laid back and comfortable with others. If I was the boss I know which one I would pick for the Job.

Although many of the factors affecting self confidence are beyond our control, it is not a valid reason for you to give up, there are so many self confidence techniques out there you just need to find the ones that work for you. Recalling your past successes, unique skills, loving relationships, and positive momentum are good confidence boosting. You will be amazed at how much you have going for you and it will motivate you to take that next step towards a better you.

Self confidence is all about how you look and feel about yourself and not allowing what other people think of you to affect you; you should only care about what you think of yourself. Self confidence really helps with many different aspects of your life. A lot of the times, the lack of self confidence is a feeling of not having enough of something, whether it’s emotional validation, good luck, money, love etc.
Learn to do anything to reach that goal and you will see how that inner feeling of self confidence comes to you. Learning how to live in the wilderness of life will build confidence in other areas of your life too. What I am trying to get at here is being out in the world will help build self confidence, shying away from the world will just deepen the despair.

Building of self confidence is different from person to person. I find exercise one of the best ways to clear the mind and stop the over thinking that causes lack of confidences. Having the discipline to work out not only makes you feel better, it creates positive momentum that you can build on the rest of the day. Doing exercise every day helps to build a better self-view of yourself and in turn will boost your confidences.

The first step towards good self confidences is to start accepting yourself for who you are and not to worry about what others think of you. Self confidence and self esteem are very closely linked, that is why a large amount of the time our confidence is based on our emotions and how we feel about ourselves rather than how confident we are. Building your self-esteem and self confidence is the single most important part of your entire well-being.

If you learn anything from this article please let it be this. Self confidence is about being yourself; you should not compare yourself to anyone else. You alone determine how you live your life not someone else’s view of you. Stop the over thinking and start the doing today, trust me my friend that confidence is closer than you think.
